Introduction

Family Tree is a mixed media embroidery and watercolor piece on a ten inch hoop. This piece is a visual representation of who I am - a mind map. I have always struggled using words to describe who I am. Instead of using words, I used drawing as a way to express my thoughts and feelings.

So, who am I?

I am made up of my family, who loved me before I was born and who helped raise me. I am made up of my environment and interests. I am Appalachian, I am creative, I am a twin. I have my grandmother’s laugh and my great grandmother’s eyes. I love the color blue like my grandpa. I am an artist and storyteller like my mom. I am a problem solver like my dad. I am a sister, daughter, granddaughter, and so much more.
